Painting with pastel is to me like a chisel is to a sculptor. Each stroke of the stick contributes to the building of an image with depth and feeling. The resulting texture and shapes create the motion that excites me |

Ada most often works in watercolor, but has begun painting in acrylic and is working to master that medium. For the most part she paints pet portraits. Ada came to painting again after starting out as a set designer, followed by years of acting and directing. In 1997, she decided she wanted to draw again and, after taking a basic drawing class, she went on to watercolor and computer art. |
Watercolor |
Paul's travels to many beautiful and interesting places in the world created a desire to capture on paper or canvas the essence of places and people, landscapes, seas, mountains and cultures. He believes the essence of light can only be captured with art, and that movement of shape and form, enhancement of color and contrast contribute to the composition, which must modify nature to present a work with which the viewer associates a comfort and perhaps even a familiarity. A graduate of the Richmond Professional Institute with a BFA, Paul painted mostly in oil before taking up watercolor in 2000. |
|
Watercolor, Collage |
Susan has been painting in watercolor since 1998. Although she loves West Seattle, the majority of her work is inspired by her international travel. There is nothing she likes better than to sit in an outdoor cafe and let an espresso grow cold as she paints the view in a sketchbook. By sometimes using collage, Susan loves to both create more abstract pieces and include ephemera from her trips. |
|

Ken Paige is a photographer, woodworking designer, and observer of color and scale. He is interested in the natural world and what we have done with it over the millennia. His work ranges from blended natural scenes with merely a hint of our presence to energetic collisions between our world and us. |
|
Oil painting |
I have been an exhibiting artist since graduating from the University of New Mexico in 1976. Being half South American and half Irish American my work, though representational, has a lyrical quality that invites the viewer to dream. | |
Sculpture, Painting |
Stephen Rock is partner in Rock|Dement visual art space in Seattle’s Pioneer Square and owner of Rock’s Studio, a digital printmaking studio. He has exhibited work for over 30 years in solo and group shows regionally and on a national level and is a versatile artist exhibiting in many mediums including painting, sculpture and mixed digital processes. |
|
Mixed Media |
As an impressionistic artist Marilyn uses heavy texture and brilliant colors to make her canvases exciting. She calls these mixed media pieces "tumble" paintings because they are designed to be hung more than one way depending upon the viewer's preference. This involves others in the creative process. "Art plays a key role in our lives, no matter how subconscious it may be, giving us an important avenue of introspection." |
